About

Carlos & Elena are several Times Portuguese National Latin Dance Champions and in the best 30 couples of the world. Both Carlos and Elena are qualified ISTD teachers. They have been dancing together since 2003 and are based in London where they give tuition and train with the world's best coaches. They travel all over the world for competitions, teaching and shows. Some of their most important achievements include:

  Both of them are leading stars of the feature length documentary film "London Tango" which was made during 2008 and 2009. 

Carlos´s father was the president of a social club in a small city called Cartaxo in Portugal and they wanted to create a team of kids to dance and develop Latin & Ballroom dancing in that area.

Being 8 years of age, the part of this dance team was very exciting, he got to learn new steps to great music every week, make new friends and travel to different cities to perform. It was then when Carlos did his first competition that the things started to get a bit more seriously about dancing, he got third place in Portuguese National juveniles and people said to him that he was very talented and he could become a very good dancer.

"In the begining dance was for fun , socialize and exercise but then I started to compete and I realize I could become much better dancer and aim for higher results, I would have never imagined that one day this would be my profession".

The journey starts and Carlos had lessons with major dance teachers and travel Europe to many different competitions with many different partners, but it was not until a young adult that Carlos found his first serious partner.

In 2003 Carlos formed a partnership with Elena Plescenco and they are currently dancing together.

In 2005 they moved to London to further develop their dancing and they are an international top class Latin American Dance couple and Portuguese National Latin American Dance Champions.

They travel around the world for teaching, competing and demonstrating.

" Dance for me is an art form like Ballet with an element of sport: as dancers we sense the music and interpret with our movements what is playing and at the same time we need to be fit so our muscles are prepared to work in perfect harmonia"



lena is of Russian origin and had her first dance lesson during her first year at primary school in Moldova in 1991 where a dance school "Codreanca" was providing extra curriculum classes. She was captivated by the elegant and dynamic movement to a rhythmical music and the discipline of a sport. She first formed a partnership with Edgar Orlovschii with whom she had a very successful start for her dancing career. They won their first competition and remained undefeated Juvenile and Junior Moldavian National Champions in Ballroom and Latin. During the seven years of their partnership they travelled around Europe representing Moldova in European and World Championships.


In 1998 their coaches decided to split the partnership to take advantage of the difference in their physical structures. Elena was then put together with Alexander Shindila and achieved a stunning third place in Junior 10 Dance World Championship. They danced together for three years, during which they were frequent semifinalists and finalists in major international Ballroom Championships.

Having successfully finished high school in 2002 Elena decided to commit her life to dancing and moved to Portugal to dance with Carlos Custodio. Her love for dancing and hunger for success were matched by Carlos´ ambition and talent. They have been tirelessly travelling around the world successfully representing Portugal in the major international events.
