The Bo Diddlers are a Morris Dance act with a difference....


In 2008 Bo Diddlers leader Ewan Wardrop decided after a long career as a professional dancer and actor working with companies including Matthew Bourne’s New Adventures and Complicite to come up with a performance platform for the many funny and talented dancers he had met along the way. His love of folk music and dance, physical comedy, silent film comedy and the almost forgotten ‘eccentric dancer’ act from the music-hall era inspired Ewan to form The Bo Diddlers.

That year at the Brighton Fringe Festival, the first Bo Diddlers show ‘The Six Rods at Dawn’ was performed to the shock and awe of all involved. An extraordinary spectacle accompanied by wonderful live musicians, they have since performed at events including the press night of Jez Butterworth’s play ‘Jerusalem‘ at the Royal Court Theatre and at Laban’s ‘Folk Picnic’ for The Big Dance 2012. What at first appears to be a very traditional Morris side turn out to be something quite unexpected…
