About

Les Bubb started performing at the National Youth Theatre and the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama in the early eighties. Training continued at the Desmond Jones school of mime in London, and in Paris with Phillipe Gaulier (Le Coq) andEtienne Decroux and his assistants.

After sharpening his skills on the streets of Europe he played his short act “Make your brains go POP! “ at UK festivals and became a regular of the ‘alternative’ comedy scene at venues like Jongleurs In London.

Following came two full length theatre shows : Sonata in Dream Major in 1987 andAnother Fine Mess in 1989/90 .He quickly became popular with his unique blend of mime and contemporary clowning , joining the new wave of alternative comedy with contemporaries Ben Elton, Stephen Fry and Hugh Laurie, Lenny Henry and Harry Enfield, supporting them LIVE in theatres across the UK , and taking the TV showsMax Headroom and Friday Live by storm !

Travelling the World

Since then Les has been travelling the world both with his full length theatre showMake your brains go…..Pop! and his cabaret/variety act : From the Crazy Horse Saloon in Paris to The Magic Castle in Hollywood, winning awards at : the World Circus Festival in Verona and the Wuhan Festival of International Acrobatic Art in China amongst others.

Criss-crossing the world from Brazil to Japan, from Dubai to Chile, from Hungary to Hong Kong, Les became something of a legend. He also became a popular variety act for television and has made many appearances worldwide : HBO , RTL , BBC , TF1 , SAT 1, ORF etc.

In addition, the renowned director, Werner Herzog, has sought his unique talents several times, in the multimedia show Variete, playing theatres and Opera houses across Europe, re-opening the World’s first electric theatre in Vienna and as Herr Rothschild in his recent arthouse film ‘Invincible’ starring Tim Roth.

From 1997 to 2002 Les starred in and co-wrote the young peoples series HUBUBB for BBC 1, which extended to five series, making his distinctive surreal humour popular to a whole new generation.

Then and Now

Les has been making himself useful on set of the first 3 Harry Potter films, as voice artist for real and a virtual characters and physical acting coach.

He continues to travel the world working both in television , the corporate and commercial sector, comedy festivals and at a theatre near you.

His original act has influenced a whole generation of comic physical performers . The unforgettable stuck suitcase and balloons, the invisible piano, flying bottle, inflated rubber-glove head this rubber-band faced man once described as “a Puppet of God” is a unique phenomenon to be experienced .
